“When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses”. Jer. 5:7
Here is a sad revelation of the moral condition of Jerusalem in the days of the prophet that is similar to the moral decay of today. Such corruption amongst husbands who had such religious privileges, and in the very scene where the temple stood, shows the wonderful forbearance of God and the terrible perversity of the human heart!
God says, “When I fed them to the full, they then committed adultery,…”. Prosperity is the gift of God, designed to lead men to Him, but these men used the blessings of God and lavish it at every joint with prostitutes, etc. When they were single, they asked God to prosper them and He did. Now they used it on harlots. Despite their immorality God still give them a decent and industrious wife. Together, they laboured for the success of the family. They went through several trials and temptation but stick together. Now that God make them wealthy, blessed them with children and a car, the man is no longer available at home. He now come home drunk, and some time spend the night at the house of harlots. While some of the men bought a house for the harlot, furnish it and give her a car or anything he might never dream of giving his wife. The SWEET HUSBAND now becomes the SWEAT HOMEBOUND. He spends his leisure time with harlots and friends instead of his family and wife. He squandered their money and has no plan for the future. King Solomon out of experience said, “… a companion of harlots wastes his wealth”. Prov. 29:3.
Harlots are hunting for his money and before he realise it, he has been reduce to a pieces of bread. Prov 6:26 say, “For by means of a harlot A man is reduced to a crust of bread; And an adulteress* will prey upon his precious life”.
Stop this immoral act, repent today and God who set the solitary in family will restore you.
