THE MODERN ONAN'S WHO USE CONDOM AND SAFE SEX:

"And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother's wife, he released his semen on the ground so that he would not produce offspring for his brother. What he did was evil in the LORD's sight, so He put him to death". (Gen 38:8-10)

Onan, was married to the widow of his brother, to preserve the name of his deceased brother that died childless. Onan seems to have been prompted to commit his crime by the motive of turning the whole inheritance to his own house. The custom of marrying the brother's widow was afterwards made one of the laws of Moses (Deu 25:5-6). This is called LEVIRATE MARRIAGE.

When brothers live on the same property and one of them dies without a son, the wife of the dead man may not marry a stranger outside the family. Her brother-in-law is to take her as his wife, have sexual relations with her, and perform the duty of a brother-in-law for her. The first son she bears will carry on the name of the dead brother, so his name will not be blotted out from Israel. (Deu 25:5-6)

Onan, though he consented to marry the widow, yet, to the abuse of his own body, of the wife that he had married, and of the memory of his brother that was gone, he refused to raise up seed unto his brother, as he was duty bound.

What Onan DID was to begin the sex act with his dead brother's widow but to deny her his seed (semen is Latin for seed; sperm is Greek for seed) by pulling out and "destroying" it upon the ground.
Onan was put to death for POURING PUT HIS SPERM TO THE GROUND.

Thus, God designed the semen or sperm for the only one destination -- the woman's vagina, womb, or sex organ. This means that the use of condoms, etc. that defeats this God-designed sex function is a sin and an abomination. YOU CAN'T CHEAT GOD AND GO FREE.

MASTURBATION: A Sin for Christians?

As I promised, here is my respond to the question my friend Brown asked about MASTURBATION.

I have been asked about this subject on many occasions, both and private and semi-public settings. I have even preached on it, although it is difficult to do with small children in the crowd. But, it is something that needs to be preached on, or at least dealt with in classroom settings for both adults and teenagers.
Many have asked me what THE BIBLE SAYS on the subject. Many Christians have experimented with it. Many practice it and many struggle with it as an addiction. For some, there are the additional struggles of pornography and other things that often accompany habitual masturbation. But, the answer that many seek is to the questions, "Is Masturbation A Sin?" In order to answer it properly, we must look to what THE BIBLE SAYS. Read and study along both for yourself, and for those whom you may have the opportunity to help now or in the future.

The Bible does not specifically say that masturbation is a sin. Some would say this means it is not, but the Bible does not list each and every sin. Instead, it gives us principles to live by, and may give us listings of sins in general terms. For example, the Bible does not say, “thou shalt not smoke marijuana.” But most Christians understand principles that teach us we should not do so. The Bible doesn’t say, “----“ and “----“ are cuss words. But, we know that the Bible does teach us to watch what we say and that our speech comes from our hearts (Matthew 12:34). The same can be said concerning masturbation.

To say masturbation is a sin for everybody in every case would be binding what God has not bound. The Bible just does not specifically say such. But for many, masturbation is often a symptom of something else such as a heart of sinful sexual lust. The masturbation may not be a sin itself, but the heart of evil lust certainly is. We will look more at some specific scriptures in a moment.

First, I want to examine a scripture that is often pointed to as “proving” masturbation is, indeed, a sin. The passage is Genesis 38:8-10. Onan was supposed to take his sister-in-law as his wife which was both customary when a man’s brother had no children and would later be included in the Law of Moses with that purpose in mind (Deuteronomy 25:5). In this case, God has specifically commanded Onan to do so (see verse 8). Onan was killed, not because he may have masturbated, but because he disobeyed God by not giving his new wife a child.

Another verse that is sometimes given as “proof” that masturbation is wrong is Proverbs 6:27. Although the context is of a sexual nature, it is talking specifically about adultery and fornication with a harlot. What it is saying in modern, terms is, “if you play with fire, you’re going to be burned.” That may apply to our subject of masturbation in some respect, but it does not specifically forbid the practice.

So, what does the Bible have to say about this subject? Let’s look at several passages, principles, and considerations to help us in this study. Remember though, that each individual person must make up his own mind about the matter because each one of us is responsible for ourselves. We must all answer to God individually (Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10).

Lust and Masturbation
Matthew 5:28 "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I realize it is possible to practice masturbation without lusting. It is undoubtedly difficult, but yet, possible. Some say they do it as a “biological release,” but without thinking about anyone or lusting over anyone in particular.

However, many find it difficult to do so without lusting, especially those who are addicted to the practice. This is because they feel there is a "need" to do it on a regular basis to fulfil lustful desires. Christians (usually) understand sex outside of marriage to be sinful. The Bible teaches that it is (Hebrews 13:4; II Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19-21). So, we may “substitute” the adultery and fornication with masturbation in such a way that it simply replaces the act itself. Jesus says that in doing so, you have committed it in your heart (Matthew 5:28). You lusted and desired that person in such a way that you thought about and even acted out what you might do with that person if it were not a sin. One sin does not justify another.

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.

Addiction and Masturbation
I Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Paul uses this verse immediately after condemning sins such as adultery and fornication. The larger context is of satisfying the desires of the flesh which is generally the root cause of masturbation. Verse 12 certainly applies to our study because, as Paul said, something may not be a sin in and of itself, but we should not let it control us. This is what often happens with masturbation. Perhaps some do it on occasion for “physical release” and without lusting when doing it. But for many others, this is not the case. What often start as an occasional thing for a “justifiable” purpose, easily becomes a habit, then an addiction. Yes, you can be addicted to masturbation. You can be addicted to sex, even with your spouse. Do not let the desires of the flesh control you. Here are a few more scriptures you might want to consider:

Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

I Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.

Self-Control and Masturbation
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is....self-control. Against such there is no law.

One thing that is clear about what THE BIBLE SAYS is that we are to practice self-control. Some who habitually practice masturbation may say they do have self-control. They may say, “I can quit anytime I want to – I just don’t want to.” That sounds exactly like what many people say who are addicted to drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. They believe they can quit when they want to. They don’t realize that this thing has become an addiction to them and that, although they can quit if they want to, the reason they don’t want to is that they lack the self-control to do so. Perhaps I should note that when a person is addicted to drugs that there is generally both a physical as well as a psychological addiction. To say, “just quit” is not enough. However, whatever a person is addicted to, be it drugs, sex, food, work or anything else, the first step is to admit you have a problem, and the second is to want to quit. A person who habitually practices masturbation should seriously and prayerfully examine what he is doing in light of what the Bible says about self-control. Perhaps one way to do this is to try it. Quit for a long period of time. See if you can do it without regression or without replacing it with things such as lust and pornography, or illicit flirting.

Another passage that may be helpful for us to consider in the discussion of self-control is I Corinthians 7:5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. Here, Paul is speaking to married couples who separate for a time. He does note that self-control may become a problem, so they should not stay apart for very long. Some might suggest that masturbation satisfies this problem when a person cannot be reunited sexually with his wife, such as in cases of death, divorce, or extended illness. Maybe it can. You must decide that for yourself. Again, there is no specific Bible passage that forbids it, but, we must be careful in using masturbation to avoid a lack of self-control. In attempting to use masturbation to control ourselves, the masturbation itself can be an area in which we lack self-control. If we so choose to use it for this purpose, we must be careful to consider who and what we think about when doing it, and we must be certain that we are able to control it, not letting it control us.

The Bible specifically teaches us to practice self-control in others passages such as II Timothy 3:2-5 and II Peter 1:5-7.

The PRIVILEGE of Sex
Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Some would see sex as a “right” they have been given. While God did create us as sexual being, and he created man and woman to have sexual relations with each other inside of marriage, he never gave that to man as an inherent right. Sex should be seen as a privilege, and with it comes responsibility. Sex inside of marriage is a good thing. But, to say we have to have it in some form is to say, in essence, “I am addicted to it.”

I was teaching a teenage class once, and the subject of this and other sexual relations outside of actual intercourse came up. Some in the class had bought into this worldly way of thinking that they “HAD” to do “SOMETHING.” They wanted to know what “somethings” they could do and not sin. Fondling, oral sex, and other such things were all given as acceptable possibilities by these young people. This is a worldly way of thinking. We do not have to have sex. We get to have sex, if and only if we do so inside the marriage covenant. That is God’s will, His intention, and His requirement. Again, that’s not to say that masturbation in every form, under every circumstance, and with every mindset is sinful. It’s to say we must be careful what we let Satan fill our minds with and consider what we do in light of God’s will and not in light of the way the world (and Satan) teaches us to think.

Masturbation and an Evil Heart
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
You may not think of masturbation as originating from an evil heart. Satan has ways of deceiving us into justifying what we do. As I often say, “God makes a way of escape; Satan makes a way of excuse.” Masturbation may not, in and of itself, be sinful. But when it comes from sinful lust, when it is done in a lustful manner (Matthew 5:28), or it becomes an addiction to us that hinders our walk with God, then it is. It is so easy to get caught up in various sexual lusts and acts. I know of many who have gotten caught up in it and it ruined their marriages, and often their lives for some time. One recurring problem I see in those who use pornography is lustful and addictive masturbation. One can easily lead to the other. Many users of pornography also have a perverted view of sex, whether inside or outside of marriage. Masturbation may not always be sinful, but when it stems from an evil heart, or when it causes an evil heart or other sins..................STAY AWAY!!!

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Ro 6:13 (NIV) Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

REDUCED TO A CRUST OF BREAD BY HARLOTS:

“For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread”. Prov 6:26

Immorality is costly! A Harlot reduces a man to utter poverty by spending money for her services. And before he realise it like Samson of old, he has been reduced to a “crust of bread”. That means, degraded to the lowest level of poverty and unhealthy life.

What does it mean for a man to be reduced to a “crust of bread” because of his contact with harlots? The word “crust” means “coating, outside, outer layer, shell, top, skin, scab, layer, film, covering, and casing”. So crust is the hard outer portion or surface area of bread and the healthiest part of the bread. It has the same nutrients as the rest of the bread, but when it is spoil it form fungus. Like the coating or outer layer on a spoiled bread, the immoral man look good on the outside but getting sour in the inside. Just give him a little space and the consequences of his immoral acts will show forth on his flesh. He will begin to manifest what is called “Bread Mold”.

Absolutely, bread mold destroys the bread, making it inedible. Bread mold is a kind of fungus that grows on the surface of the bread. The bread mold fungus draws nutrients from the bread for its survival and destroys the bread in the process. Harlots are the replica of bread molds. They will drain the life out of you and make you become useless.

To be spoilt with bread mold means, “it will harm your character, nature, or attitude because of your overindulgence, or negligent; you will become unfit for use or consumption, as from decay; not in an edible or usable condition; lacking freshness, palatability, or showing deterioration from age. Such is the case of a man who frequent Harlot’s houses and have sex with them. They will contaminate you and that’s why King Solomon used bread to demonstrate the end result of immoral acts of men. Solomon spoke out of experience. The way bread mold affects our health is the same way a contact with Harlot destroys our capacity for life. When we come in contact with molds, we ingest substances known as mycotoxins (through our skin, mucous, and airways), which are produced by the bread mold. These are very dangerous for our health. Once inside, they can spread and affect the immune system severely. These lead to health conditions like allergies, hypersensitivity, respiratory problems (asthma, wheezing, coughing); and some other severe ones like those of memory loss, depression, anxiety and reproductive problems among several others. In the same manner, your contact with Harlot produces similar reactions.

Because he has wasted his life with Harlots, everything within him will start to decay; his body becomes weak and his reasoning become dull. At the end, he might be affected with sexual transmitted diseases and everything begins to falling apart. "Stolen water is sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant." But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of hell”. Prov 9:17-18

MEN WHO VISIT HARLOT’S HOUSES:

“When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses”. Jer. 5:7

Here is a sad revelation of the moral condition of Jerusalem in the days of the prophet that is similar to the moral decay of today. Such corruption amongst husbands who had such religious privileges, and in the very scene where the temple stood, shows the wonderful forbearance of God and the terrible perversity of the human heart!

God says, “When I fed them to the full, they then committed adultery,…”. Prosperity is the gift of God, designed to lead men to Him, but these men used the blessings of God and lavish it at every joint with prostitutes, etc. When they were single, they asked God to prosper them and He did. Now they used it on harlots. Despite their immorality God still give them a decent and industrious wife. Together, they laboured for the success of the family. They went through several trials and temptation but stick together. Now that God make them wealthy, blessed them with children and a car, the man is no longer available at home. He now come home drunk, and some time spend the night at the house of harlots. While some of the men bought a house for the harlot, furnish it and give her a car or anything he might never dream of giving his wife. The SWEET HUSBAND now becomes the SWEAT HOMEBOUND. He spends his leisure time with harlots and friends instead of his family and wife. He squandered their money and has no plan for the future. King Solomon out of experience said, “… a companion of harlots wastes his wealth”. Prov. 29:3.
Harlots are hunting for his money and before he realise it, he has been reduce to a pieces of bread. Prov 6:26 say, “For by means of a harlot A man is reduced to a crust of bread; And an adulteress* will prey upon his precious life”.

Stop this immoral act, repent today and God who set the solitary in family will restore you.

ABUSING HIS FAMILY FOR HIS GAIN:

“They have cast lots for My people, Have given a boy as payment for a harlot, And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink”. Joel 3:3

I have observed keenly the life of retirees who wasted their energy and resources with Harlots and wine. After their retirement, they went back to the village. Within a short period of time, their retirement benefit got finish and they went back to square zero. Now he has to beg for a cigarette and a calabash of wine. Despite his harsh condition, he still goes after Harlots. But the Harlots despised him because he has no money.

Since there is nothing to give the prostitutes and to settle his outstanding debt at the beer parlour, he gives his boy as “payment for a Harlot”. The boy will be force to do hard labour as a bar tender, house boy or farming. As soon as the boy brings the money home, the wicked father will take everything and go straight to the Harlot’s House. Meet his sugar mummy or concubine and squandered the money leaving his wife and kids in hunger.

And another worse thing done by such men is to give their daughters “for wine”. The girl will be force at a tender age to marry a man who is her father’s age mate. Just because the man is rich and her father need money to ease his miserable life, he will give her in marriage to the rich man. While other younger girls will be encourage doing prostitution because they will come home with cash.

Some men even steal their wives money or sale their household items one after another for wine and harlotry. May God deliver this generation from immoral fathers. If you don't stop this now, your children will be next.

MEN THAT ARE LIKE WELL-FED LUSTY STALLIONS:

“When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses. They were like well-fed lusty stallions; Every one neighed after his neighbor's wife. Shall I not punish them for these things?" says the LORD. "And shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this? Jer. 5: 7-9

God says, the adulterers are like well-fed lusty stallions. Whenever they wake up in the morning, the first thing they think of is WINE and SEX. “In the morning” is a phrase for unceasing eagerness in any pursuit; such was the men avidity after loosed women. They wake up in the morning and continually wander to and fro, inflamed with lust seeking for the next prey. Some of them even enter into the temple of God and lewd innocent girls or widows promising to marry them, but only to defile and abandoned them.

Why did God compare such men to a stallion? Stallions are male Horses known for their powerful sexual proclivity and mindless obedience to their instincts; they are very strong, sexually active and can’t restrain themselves when they sighted a female. Once stallions sighted a Mare, they become insane with lust until they have sex with her. Verse 8 says, “Every one neighed after his neighbour's wife” like the Stallions. Neigh is from the Hebrew tsahal, "to cry aloud”: Figuratively used to indicate lustful desire. Neighing is the whinnying sounds a male horse makes when he desires a female.

God is saying that these men are lusting after women who are not their wives as a stallion neighing over a Mare (female animals). In such manner, some men pursued their promiscuity. They even use drugs to be extra strong so they can have multiple ejaculations like Stallions.

Another example of a Stallion craving for sex was Judah in Genesis 38:15, who was a great disgrace to God that he hastily desired intercourse with an unknown woman whom he saw from afar. He was now old; and therefore age alone, even in a lascivious man, ought to have restrained the fervour of intemperance. He sees the woman at a distance, and it is not possible that he should have been captivated by her beauty. The lust kindles him as a stallion neighs when it smells a mare. He is therefore set before us as an example, that we may learn how easily the lust of the flesh would break forth, and causes us to precipitate into fornication; let us mark, that the dishonour which Judah sustained in consequence of his incest, was a punishment divinely inflicted upon him.

MEN, WHY ARE YOU WATCHING FOR THE TWILIGHT?:

Job 24: 15 "And the eye of the adulterer watcheth for the twilight; He thinks: "no eye shall recognise me," And he putteth a veil before his face".

"The adulterer waits for the twiilight..." Adulterer translates a word which refers to a man who has sex with someone other than his marriage partner. In the Old Testament adultery took place between any man and a married or engaged woman. The result was an offense against the woman's husband, never against the male adulterer's wife. In some languages adulterer must be expressed as, for example, "The man who sleeps with other women" or "The man who takes another man's wife."

There is an analogy between moral and physical light, and between moral and physical darkness. The class of men here spoken of, who have rebelled against moral light, and refused its ways, and rejected its paths, are no great lovers of physical light according to verse 13.

Their deeds of darkness are only suited to be done in the dark, and they wait for the evening twilight to engage in immoral acts. This is the reason why Jesus says in John 3:19-21, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

And he disguiseth his face. As a further precaution against discovery, the adulterer disguiseth, or covereth up, his face. The same is often done by thieves and murderers. This line may be rendered "the adulterer watches and waits until it is almost dark." Saying, 'No eye will see me': And he disguises his face: He covers his face so that no one can see him as he enter into the house of a woman."

Prov 7:7-9 depicts a young man going secretly at twilight to his prostitute. "And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding, 8 Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house. 9 In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night".

If you are doing the right thing, why do you wait for the twilight before you visit her? Why do you disguise yourself so that no one will see you?
